129032, best exhaust upgrades?

okay so i have a 95 gs that i got from my brother. i have no idea wat it has in it other than the obvious upgrades.
that i can see it has a cool air intake and headers..... the exhaust that it has on it i am just not sure. it is wide like maybe 3" or maybe a bit more. before it is flexpipe.
wat i want to know is what is the best thing to do when i replace the exhaust system.
from the headers back wat do i do.
first off what is a down pipe and how does it help. does it go with a cat back or what some one help me figure this out?

Welcome to the board.
1. Please make an effort to use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
2. Check out the Mods & Tech info here:

The link has some basic information regarding the logical way to upgrade.
3. Use the Search function as well - there have many posts regarding exhaust systems and what members have found good or bad.
