129012, PROBLEMS WITH A/C
Posted by Rumbero, Dec-11-09 08:29 PM
air works fine but after a moment stops blowing cold air and light of the a/c starts to turn on and off intermittently, then i pressed the button of a/c on and off and starts to work again but after a moment it is the same, lights and off.
thought it was running out of coolant, so i recharges it but the problem persists, sometimes I have no problem with it. keeps blowing cold air for 10 or 20 minutes but then fails.
what can be?

Moved to this section.

I will do some Googling, I have heard of the light blinking and what it means, but I cant remember.

EDIT: Googled, the consensus is that the compressor clutch is not engaging properly, which is why your AC is intermittent.

I would try to source a known good AC compressor and swap them out. PM stangmurdera (Miller Import Parts), I bought mine from him and its going strong!

Yeah I had this exact same problem and it was the compressor clutch going bad.

mine blinks occasionally, during some of the hotter summer days. The system's charged, it's like the compressor can't put out cold enough air. As i start feeling the air get not so cold, i look down and see the light blinking.... GREAT, maybe my compressor's going

This ca happen if high pressure and/or low pressure sides are not in the proper preesure range. the refill cans on measure the low pressure side. The high pressure side is too low or too high you safety switches will shut the compressor clutch off.

yes i understand this, but when i went to refill the a/c they measure the low and high and they said that was ok, in the correct pressure and with out leaks,
could be the condenser?? many bugs on it?? what about if i clean it?
or... the compressor could be too ?? what can i check first?

Tried another compressor that I had laying around and it was bad too (but it just wouldnt even hold freon) and said fuck it winters coming no sense in wasting money on a new one lol. I ended up getting rid of the car before it mattered.
