Well i got these for my turbo build that now wont be happening for a long time. Im about to do my timing belt and valve cover gasket so i thought to myself "Hey why not throw them in for the hell of it and use them". Now my question is... this a good idea? would i need to upgrade my valve train at all to handle them? Would i need to tune for them or could i get by just puttin them in?

They will work fine with the stock valve train.

As for tuning, what other mods are on your car? Is the fuel system stock? Any other mods that account for increased air flow?

At the very least a wideband sensor and gauge will let you know if you are running lean but I would venture to say that the #14s will not require any tuning.

Awsome just what i wanted to hear. i got a 55mm tb and a ported intake thats it for air flow. i have fuel mods but not installed on the car. was waiting for turbo to do that. glad to know i can atleast put these to use instead of them laying around. i was worried about spring bind with them

what would my power band be like with them on a n/a car?

better than stock :shrug

lol mines already got a better then stock. right now my power bands between 3.5-4k to redline.

It will be better than stock, just don't expect miracles.

I believe they recommend upgraded springs for those cams. Otherwise, you can get away with stock valves and retainers. They are a mild cam, so you can get away without much tuning.

The do recommend springs with them. considerign a set of crower springs are 75.00....i would do it anyway.

I have those cams and they dont have much more if any additional lift on them. You need springs when your lift and duration change to avoid valve float. After looking at the spec cards that came with them....you shouldnt need springs unless yours are wearing out (spring pressure declines with age).

Any got any more in dept detail than "better than stock, but don't expect mircles"? After everything I've done, cams and cam gears seem like the next logical step. Looking to stay n/a, all the supporting intake/exhaust mods done. I've done some reading and searching, some say 14's, some say go bigger to 16's.....just want to squeeze out a little more power, while staying streetable as its the daily.

I run Crower 3s on my daily.

Don't know about Crane's but Crower 2's are a tried and true cam for street NA. With the bonus of being able to use the same cam should you choose to go the turbo route.

Crane 14's are turbo cams. if your staying N/A then you dont want them.

Agreed. I had a set and was thinking the same things as you are, But i left the FI off the car and sold the cams.
