Anybody have any opinions as to the best muffler to get? I dont want the whole cat-back system, just the muffler. Why? From what i understand the piping is still the same size and i dont want to spend $600. Plus, eventually i will be getting a turbo and i will need 3" piping. I just want a little more power, the sound, and to get rid of the ugly stock muffler. I was thinking of the Apex'i dunk or world sport. Any opinions?

I have the Greddy SP I like it a lot. It's kinda loud but the Greddy Evo would be a good choice too.

Well I just picked up a Magnaflow Street Series. Some guys here highly recommended it and at $95 bucks how could you go wrong?

I'm getting it installed tomorrow so I'll let you know how it sounds and performs.

magnaflow muffler-135 installed, glasspack resonator- about 12-14" long and 3.5-4" around-35 installed. Great sound and performance.

ewww, go through all the trouble of ordering a muffler and weld it on to stock piping? Just go ahead and run 3'' from the catback and into a 3'' inlet exhaust like an n1 with a pretty much straight through design... then you'll be ready for to turbo and wont have to cut it back off and reweld it back on down the road... do it right the first time. and it doesnt cost that much to have 3'' piping mandrel bent from catback, around 125-175 and any place around here...

Well I think it depends on where you are going with the car. 125 to 175 extra to install 3" piping is not worth it for people that aren't planning to go turbo down the road. The exhaust shops around here all said the stock piping is good enough, which makes sense since the gst with 210 hp uses the same piping. And I know most of us modding daily drivers will never get close to 200 hp at the flywheel. So a muffler installed with parts and labor for 150 sounds a lot better than spending 300 to 600 for an unneeded catback.

from my experience.. enlarging the piping (w/o turbo) will result in loss of low end torque (something we already do not have)

Well I have an OBX muffler w/ pacesetter piping and it sounds beautiful!! to give you an idea of how it sounds, I can say that it sounds just like my motorcycle (GSXR1100) but its much deeper

he said he was going turbo down to road, thats why i said that. if he wasnt, i wouldnt have said 3''.

How do you guys feel about slapping on a flowmaster???

Oops, I missed that part...I think 2.5" piping would be a good compromise then since 3" would be a huge loss in power while n/a. Also, some people "plan" to go turbo, but never do...

if u enlarge the piping with a 3" and lose low end torque with a turbo it is better because u wont spin your wheels as much but still be fast as shit.
