Anyone here get their engine balanced? What kind of gains did you get, what rpm's can you do now, how smooth is the engine?

no one!

to my knowledge no one has taken off the rev limiter (7200) yet..so no one has revved higher than that on a 420a eclipse...

I believe that when the engine is balanced you can get around 1000 more rpm from the engine safely, allowing less shifting and more power up high from things like a lightened flywheel and U/D pulley.

The engine may be able to rev that high with no problems but the ECU won't let the engine pass 7200 rpm.

several people have balanced their engine. I can run it right to redline without noticing. I bounce off of it all the time. If I could figure out how to remove that silly rev limiter I suspect it would easily go past 7200. No one has yet to figure that out or spend time trying to figure it out.

We have balanced alot of them. It is more of a longevity thing, than a power thing. It reduces the vibration that robs the engine of life. Also reducing vibration does add a little bit of power, because it takes power to vibrate. With good rods, full floating pins, and aftermarket ignition we have seen 9,800 RPM's, these engines are stout!

So any thoughts on removing our rev limiter? I know you can do it for the neons. The way mine pulls to redline I know it could keep going. I would love to see 8k. I feel the redline is in my way.

Well, we are working on Accel DFI hot an heavy right now. I'm still trying to get my programmer to do the Talon/Eclipse, but I'm looking at other venues as well.

since the talon/eclipse/avenger/sebring uses the same ecu case as the neon, and basically all the same sensors for everything, is it possible to make an ecu adapter to use neon ecu's in the eclipse (kinda like honda owners do)? I was thinking about doing something like this to get rid of the factory rev limiter. I SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY don't want that thing.
A.D.P. bring it on............

This would be the quickest easiest solution in my mind as well.

Yeah I also would love to rid myself of the 7200 rpm piece of shit that stops all the fun!!!! }>
All I want is 8000 rpm, maybe a little more if possible. I would even hand wire the AFX Neon ECU if you told me it would work.

Hrmm
Are you working on a full replacement solution? I have an accell DFI, but I did not think that removed the rev limiter. I actually assumed the rev limit was based on timing and not fuel. Are you working on an Accell solution to cope with the fact we do not have a distributor?
