So I'm going through and rebuilding the cylinder head from the donor car before I throw it on because it looked like there was oil seeping from every surface possible on this head. I know how to deal with all the other normal seals but I've never dealt with the style of valve stem seals that the 420A head uses. I couldn't find any info in my chiltons manual and I might have missed it in the FSM (or I don't have the right section of the FSM)

What's the proper method of installing new valve stem seals and should I do anything special to the valves when installing them as well?

I used a 17 or 18mm deepwell by hand to seat my new ones after pushing them on by hand. I figured that the valve springs would take care of the rest.

That's what I was thinking, I was curious if they needed to be lubed with fresh oil or anything as well

I'll have to check out the youtube vid after work.

It does not hurt to lube the sealing portion but lubing the the valve stem upon install accomplishes this.

The portion that slides onto the head casting does not need lube.

if your used to installing conventional ones, these really arent any different. only difference is the spring holds them secure
