127951, Engine having hard time starting, bogging, and compression issues Posted by jcord, Sep-27-09 04:33 AM
Hey guys, please bare with me in this long post but i'm in desperate need of help. lol I'm in a bit of tough spot at the moment. I've searched around the forum and got a few ideas, but they don't always answer everything and their situations aren't exactly like yours all the time so I thought I throw this out there. Ok, I was driving to my friends house today and after about 10-15 mins of driving, i notice the car starting to miss a little and bogg. I figure i was running out of gas since gas light was on and was stopping at the gas station. Put gas in, and fired right up like normal. Got on the street and punched it after driving a little ways. It felt normal. By the time I got to my friends house, it was missing bad. I could take off in first, punch it at 1200rpm and it would sputter and have a hard time just making it to 3000rpm. So i get it to my friends house, leave it there and go out, have a good time, come back and start checkin it out. I figured msd coil pack or wires just went bad. Swapped stock one back on, same shit. Pulled plugs, they're black as hell so i know its not burning the fuel. did a comp check. 175, 120, 175, 60. Swapped comp testers and went from 60 to 120. Added oil, and back to 60 on #4. Car was running fine first ten mins of driving. Felt no loss in power, everything felt normal. My CLT is bad. says my temp is at 60 degrees when warmed up but has been that way for a few days. Timing is fine. Checked TPS. Going to pull valve cover off tomorrow and look inside. Here are my mods if you need info. P&P head, crower N/A 2's, crower springs and retainers, stainless valves, ebay header. Anything and everything is appreciated. Thanks for taking your time to read this. I look forward to hearing from you guys. This is urgent and I prefer answers as quickly as possible. I go back to work monday and i need it to be running. Post, call me, text me, I dont care whatever you want. lol cell is 661-809-8153 Thanks Jim

SMS sent.
Suspecting CLT first and foremost. Sending low temps to ECU results in richer mixture, causing fouled plugs. Add the low vac at idle with headwork and C2s and it's only going to run richer.
Hopefully that will get the car running. Once it's running okay, we can figure out the compression numbers. Might want to do a Seafoam treatment before testing again.
