127721, 2GNT vs NEON parts interchange question Posted by klaymonster, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
There are two brackets that go from the bottom two transmission bolts to the sides of the engine. They are support braces or whatever but my question is.. being that those two braces were missing from my car and eclipses are rare to find at my local Pick'nPull stores, can i source those brackets from a 420a neon, avenger, or any other 420a chryslers? Thanks all!

I cant picture the bracket you are talking about, but your best bet would be an Avenger with the 420A.

This is a page from an Avenger manual. I second that it would be better to go with an avenger as well.
Part # 7 is one of them.

i think he's talking about PN 02126. bottom & top of page. If so, you don't need it. It's about as useful as the intake manifold stays. Pointless. It is easy to get to though, so if you have it, use it. If you don't, forget about it.

You guys are flippin awesome. The avenger setup DOES look very close to what im lookin for. That IS what im talking about that the picture shows and the part IS more then likely useless. I highly suspect the part wasnt there from the start of this project and if thats the case it hadnt been there for at least a year of spirited driving and who knows how long the previous owner drove it around like that. I might snatch one up someday anyway if i come across it.
For the record though i believe there is another one that was not pictured above. It would run along the other side of the engine in a the same way but was bigger and more inclusive... 3 or 4 bolt hole locations. (im guessing, based on other 420a counterparts and to account for the remaining major transmission bolt hole).
I love this forum, you guys rock.

There are 2 of these. One in the front (by the front mount) and one in the back (next to the axle. Both have a bolt in the tranny and a bolt into the engine block). As stated previously, you can run without them (a lot like the intake supports) but I don't. It is support for the lower part of the tranny to engine connection. Though there is little stress here, it is two of the 6 bolts that holds the tranny to the engine (not counting the starter). I like the added support in a torquey engine like ours (especially at the track).
But can you run without them? Sure.
