Does the pad on the back of the engine bay do anything and is it ok to remove?

It is a heat barrier. Take it out if you dont mind your feet getting hot.

ah well idk then i was just gona do it to clean the bay up but maby i can put something on the inside of the firewall

There already is more heat padding on the inside of the firewall...

Well do what you want. just dont complain its too hot in the car afterwards.

I think it cleans up the engine bay a bit to pull it, I just put a little aluminized dynamat or equivalent on the inside of the firewall to prevent the heat transfer.

it's not really that much warmer though.

ok i mean the engine is out and everything only thing id like to do is relocate the computer and do a wire tuck but it seems prety difficult

One thing you do want to keep in mind is that that pad also acts as a sound deadener (sp?). If you are squeamish about noise and such, that should probably figure in to your decision.

yea i havent thought about that but im not real worried about noise and i found a good amount of dynamat that i could use on the inside
