I juat wanted to get anyones input on the issues that I'm having with my 99 RS.

1. First issue is the battery. If I don't drive it for more than 2 days, the battery is dead. I've replaced it but this Sunday, I'm having the alternator replaced but I really don't think the alternator is the issue. Then again, it could be. I'm not sure. When the car's on, it's fine. Headlights are on and bright and everything works as expected. They only thing I have that might be the problem is my system. I've disconnected the power to the amp and it still drains. Open relay perhaps? Not sure. I don't even know where to start looking. Could a faulty alternator drain the battery if it's not in use?

2. This one boggles me. The car would tend to jerk. To better describe it, it feels like the motor shuts off but since the car is moving, it basically jump starts itself. Momentary power loss I guess. I've checked ignition and I think it's fine but I'm not sure what it is. Could the alternator be causing this problem as well?

I'll leave it to you fine folks to help me solve this mystery.

Check your connections. At the battery and at the end of the battery line connections. Don't just look at them, undo them and clean them. While you do that check the ends and make sure they're not brittle or corroded or cracking.

Best place to start for a problem like this. Do this first and then go from there.

It does sound like you may have a draw in the system, but you need to have a good base to work from first.

Thank you for the reply. I'll check those out when I get home. I haven't driven it for a while due to the intermittent "jerk" and it has turned off when I'm at a dead stop. Other than that, the motor still runs strong.

The jerk is probably related to your electrical issue.

Hopefully this is the issue. I'll run through it and see if anything is wrong with the wiring.

Come to think of it...a couple of years ago some jerkoffs broke into my car but to disable the alarm, they took some bolt cutters and cut all the wires on the positive end of the battery. So all those wires are now going to a junction box located near the ECU. Maybe one of those wires have gotten loose and is grounding somewhere.
