I was out drivin my buddy sumwhere and when i was parking, he noticed the damn engine temp gauge was on H. I'm thinkin its most likely the thermostat cuz he knows a lot about car shit and that's what he told me to change. I was juss wonderin if anyone has any tips and how to change that or anything cuz i aint never changed one and he never changed one on a rice rocket b4, he's into the whole muscle car stuf. So we're juss wonderin if anyone out there has done this b4 and can give us some tips.... Peace!

it is really easy. Make sure the engine is cool. Take off the radiator cap slowly to make sure there is no pressure. take the 2 bolts off around the sides where the radiator cap screws in. Be careful cause antifreeze will leak out. Then pull out ur thermostat and install the new one with a new gasket. Then put back on the housing and ur good to go. I may have left out a step cause im doing this from memory.

I thought our thermostats are designed to stay open when they fail. It's like a safety precaution. So if it dies, then it will stay open and your car will be super cool (that's how mine was). It would hardly go above 1/4. Might want to make sure it's not the fans dead first.

even the coolant levels, check them too. maybe flush that ish. spend the 20 bux on chiltons, it has a lot on maintenance and extra crap thats worth a lot more than 20 bux.

Loosen the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator and let some coolant out before you start to change the thermostat.
