I hooked up a fuel pressure tested to the injector port and it is giving me a 0 reading......tried it on my other vehicles and the gauge works fine.....ive replace the filter and the fuel pump and still nothing......after i replaced the pump, i disconnected the filter and turned the car on just to make sure the gas was going to the filter and it was, but for some reason its not making it up to the engine.......any help?

Make sure th gauge is pressing on the little valve in the port. if the valve is not being depressed then the valve isnt opening and you wont get a reading. The little needle of the valve is bent very easily and it does what your describing.

no its not bent at all.....i even pressed it with a screwdriver just to check and it drips out a little but doesnt squirt like its suppose to.......would the relays have anything to do with it?

If the car is not running, or the car is not turning over the fuel pump doesn't run, therefor you won't have any pressure at the rail.

I would recommend having a friend bump the key into the ignition position over and over to see if the fuel pressure bumps up or not. You should also hear the fuel pump cycle. Just putting the key to the run position will not keep pressure on the rail. It will if you are trying to start the car however.

Hope that all made sense. I did the same thing some years back.

You need to test fuel pressure with the car running!

True, but if the car doesn't run and he is trying to figure out whether he is getting pressure to the rail he should get pressure while the car is turning over at least. Or when the fuel pump cycles as the ignition switch is bumped into the on position.

ok.......the car will turn over and it will actually run for a few seconds if i spray starting fluid in the TB......but there is no pressure at the port.

You can always bypass the fuel pump relay.

Hey man. I have a stock 99 regulator with only about 35K miles on it. When I took it off the car a few years ago it was in working order. Wanna buy it?

it might be making it to the fuel filter but the fuel pressure regulator could be failed and just draining all the fuel back into the tank through the return hose. are you running the stock fuel regulator still?

But there is a regulator on the 97-99 Eclipse; it's in front of the fuel tank next to the fuel filter on the underside of the car.

There is but not on the rail. It's back up under the car.

It could be a bad regulator, clogged filter or the pump isn't working for some reason. You need to do some testing.

there is a fuel regulator on the 97-99 eclipse. it's attached to the front side of the fuel filter just in front of the fuel tank. i've seen them go bad and cause just the problem described. they're not vacuum controlled. they are internally spring controlled.

you still didnt answer if you hear the fuel pump prime or not

yes the pump primes......when i had the filter off the car, i turned the key on and tried to start it to get some of the dirty fuel out from the pump and it spit fine......so you have the pump to the filter and then is the regulator between the filter and the injector rail?

yes! there's like a t-fitting kind of thing that the fuel regulator screws into, along with the fuel line to the fuel rail, with a banjo bolt that screws the t-fitting into the engine side of the fuel filter. there's a rubber return hose from the fuel pump. follow that down and it'll lead you to the regulator underneath. my money is on that being bad if you have a new pump and filter. it's a pretty expensive part from Satan and aftermarket parts stores only carry the 95-96 style fuel rail pressure regulator. dealer only item unfortunately unless you try a salvage yard.
