Someone pleaz remind me what this is for, and how/if I can remove it completely... it has never stayed attached, makes no discernable difference to the engine, and generally pisses me off. Oh, and I just melted the vacuum tip off (touched the manifold), heh.

egr solenoid.... its an electro-mechanical device, that uses the pcm to activate it to allow vac, through it to open up the egr valve.

it can never really be removed with out throwing a code, it can however be looped so that the egr valve and piping themselves can be eliminated. and thus you can tuck that device some where else say under your dash.

Alrighty, so I guess my question is... how can I create a loop for it? Do I just plug the head where it attaches and run the solenoid off a vacuum line from the intake or what?

Hiding it under the fuse box appeals to me a whole lot more than any resistor mod (to reliably *not* throw a CEL)... if I can get it there. I've driven so very long without it actually attached (years) as it keeps blowing off (got tired of it), and I've not gotten any no-flow CEL's. My car is a '97 MTX.

plug the intake, leave the connector attached, and take a piece of vac. hose and go from the cylinder vac port to the disk vac port and your done.

Anyone have pictures? I just wany to be sure that I am doing what you are saying to do. Pictures are just so much easier to follow. :)
