125810, Car starts sometimes? Posted by DSMalex, May-27-09 01:46 PM
I am looking into buying my 3rd 2nd gen talon this week and the person selling the vehicle stated that the car will crank sometimes, and other times will not. Now I know that some people are probably saying right now "Wow what an idiot it has got to be the starter." But I am already one step ahead we looked into it and it is not the starter, no loose wires, nothing clearly visible under the hood. If any one may have some reccomendations on were to look I would greatly appreciate it. I have looked at the car numerous times and I am scepticle on if its worth the money or not. Thanks for the help. If there is already a thread related to this topic I appologize, please refer me to that thread so I may resolve this issue!

two main places to look, the battery cables running to the starter and the ignition switch. both are known for crapping out and causing massive inconsistancy with the starting system.

if you say you VISIBLY looked and saw that it wasn't the starter, you wouldn't KNOW if the starter was bad or not. What exactly happens when you try to start the car when it doesnt want to? Does it tick tick tick? does it try to turn over but doesnt have the power to quite make it? More info needed to diagnose from the internet is necessary my friend.
