Yesterday I changed my timing belt. that was the first time i changed a timing belt it took 6 hours. i was just wondering how to get the bracket for the moter mount off the block? i couldn't cause the bolts are long and wouldn't come out to get the bracket off. so i cut the timing belt cover in half. and just put it back on when i got the belt changed and ready to go. has anyone else have this problem?

Yes. I hate it. Either jack up the car sky high and unbolt more motor mounts to do so, or do it ghetto, my way, and drill with a holesaw 1 1/2" holes in alignment with the 3 bolts through your fenderwell. :)

unbolt the front engine mount and jack the engine up and play with all three of the bolts, or how Mikey recommended above, drill a hole, but it is NOT necessary. I have removed my bracket like 10+ times already and havent drilled a hole nor plan on doing it.

Take your time...

2 of the bolts will come out easy. The third one is hard. You are going to have to remove the front motor mount and jack the engine up. When you take the 3rd bolt out, take the whole plate out at the same time. It's easier that way.

QFT, this is how I do it and its almost become easy

i thought about drilling a hole in it but decided not to. i had the car in the air. my brother has a twin post lift so i used it. i didn't think of pulling the front mount. but now i know to next time i need that plate off. thanks for the advise. hopefully this thred will help the next guy.

I have a engine hoist so I would probably just use that to lift the engine out a bit. I am about to change a water pump in a 98 stratus with the 2.4 so I think i'll be having the same amount of fun with that.

I will luckily its completely stock and I can almost get under it without jacking it up so it should be easier than my eclipse thats 4 1/2" off the ground lol.
