125441, 4th ground wire
Posted by Nemo, Apr-30-09 08:12 PM
My car didn't have that ground strap running from the motor to the firewall so I bought a 4 wire ground kit. I'm connecting 1 ea. wire to the throttle body, chasis, alternator and what else? Thanks.

transmission, if you are not replacing that factory ground wire.

keep in mind the key to a grounding system is locating a single ground source.

for example if you have your battery in the stock location.

go battery ground to drivers strut tower.

intake manifold to strut tower
transmission to strut tower
a/c compressor to intake manifold OR Pass strut tower then to intake
alternator to intake manifold OR pass strut tower then to intake

what this does is generate a series loop of grounds, gives all the grounds a looping path, so instead of having to search for grounding sources, they flow from one ground source to another.

if your battery is in the trunk, and you are grounding to the trunk floor/hatch floor, then I would suggest using the firewall as your main loop ground.

intake manifold to firewall
a/c compressor to firewall
alternator to firewall
transmission to firewall

Thanks Cotton. Turns out they sent me a 6 wire kit by mistake. That's plenty to go around.
