the A/c in my car blows somewhat cool during the day. it is frustrating. there are no leaks or pressure losses anywhere, and the condensor is cleaned out...is the any way i can make it blow cooler? everyone hates getting in my car because its always hot.. it is becoming a serious problem because the girls start sweating and dont like coming with me anywhere, please help me keep my hoes... a lil info about the car it is a 95 turbo with an aluminum radiator and 2 spal fans. also, do all the years share the same a/c parts? can i swap a/c with like a 99 and get better results? Thank you!

Okay. How do you know it doesnt have a leak? What did you do to confirm this?

Did you check to see if its full/empty?

Does the clutch kick in when you hit the AC button on the control head?

Does your AC fan work?

Also check the cables coming from the hvac unit and where they connect, the temp selector cable could be off and stuck pulling in hot air.

lol ..I took it to some tire-plus type place that works on A/C's and they hooked up some thing with 3 gauges and a few hoses, and they said everything was right on the money, and said its as cold as my a/c is gonna get. At night time the a/c is very nice and no complaints, its just during the day it really sucks even with my limo tints =(

I took mine in a few years ago because it wasn't blowing very cold. They said they adjusted something behind the radio. It blows cold now.

I'm not exactly sure what they adjusted tho.

Theres your problem.

I have never understood the concept of bringing a vehicle to places like these other than for tires and oil changes. They are a bunch of retarded kids that cannot do anything else other than tires and oil changes.

about the tire oil chnge place the guy seemed like he knew what he was talking about , was an older wiser man!..but i know what u mean, before i was turbo i took my car to get an oil change and car wash at one of those places and the kid asked me while standing in front of my engine, if it was turbo..i lightly chuckled, said yes it is and pretended to boost my ass away from that garage..how do they get hired to work on cars and not know shit like this? i had headers and a short ram too so he had no excuse.

because all they have to do is pull a drain plug, remove a filter, install a new filter, thread the drain plug in, and put oil in the motor. Anyone can do that.

Not anyone. Local Tire Kingdom has done a few things. The most notable being some kids Explorer out of the bay... with the door open! It was so full of win, door bent 90 degrees the opposite way, the kid going ape shit, and the employee through his shirt off and ran.

They also left the drain plug out of a new Jetta one time.

They have since fixed restructured that whole store, now its fine. I go to the other Tire Kingdom for alignments because they have a nice Hunter rack and the alignment guy races Spec Miata, so he knows whats going on, unlike most of them.

Even if your a/c has good operating pressures and even temps across the condenser core,(checking with an infrared temp gun) there may be a higher amount of inert gasses or moisture in the system that the receiver/drier can not remove on it's own, due to age and contamination from years of use.

The best way to find out is to try and have it recovered then evacuated (put under vac for at least an hour then recharged)
Make sure you try this on a warm day (80 degrees or so) and then have it recharged after performing the leak check and after the system has sat under vac for the entire time of the hour.

Leak check begins when you stop sucking the system down, and is held for 10-15minutes at 30inhg (30-inches of mercury)and must not deviate from the lowest read pressure for the duration of the test.

Once done recharge the system and check the vent temp. If there was any inert gas or moisture content in the refrigerant charge the system should now blow colder because of the more pure refrigerant charge now in the system. Other wise you need to take a close look at system pressure.

On a warm day (80 or so) the low side pressure should be between 25-40psi and the high side should be anywhere from 180-250psi if the system is R134A (and it is) and the correct quantity has been administered, if your not between these values then the compressor may be worn out and thats when you'll start cooling down at night/dusk/dawn and then frying in the heat at mid day and late after-noon. In this case you need to flush the system replace the compressor and receiver/drier and re-evacuate the system, re-test the system after the vac and then recharger and that should cure your a/c woes.......Hope this helps out...

I know this is an older thread, but if the A/C works fine at night, it probably works halfway decently when you are cruising down the interstate during the daytime. IF that is the case, I bet your secondary fan isn't kicking on.

Excellent point not to mention debris blockage on the condenser core which can also kill efficiency......

will defiantly take it too a specialist...because its not getting any better and secondary fan is turning on...i think my intercooler might have something to do with it due to reduced airflow, if thats the case ill just throw a fan on in front of the condensor

I've had this similar issue for a while (few years), blows cold at night, but hot in the day time. This was when I was running a SMIC, also, so no FMIC blockage. Recovered/vac'd/charged at least three times one summer thinking it was a bad charge, never a leak - just wouldn't blow cold. Checked the temp flapper, and it was right on where it should've been. Psi's were fine, have replaced the thermistor, only thing I haven't changed is the drier, so that'll be my next try.

However I don't pretend I know what I'm talking about, further more I don't act like I have the remedy to solve your problem unless you came to get new tires or fresh oil. So not ALL of us are retarded 20' kids. ahah

I work with some lunies from the wood works. I agree with you, I'm baffled as do why people come to a lube shop and want us to diagnose their car.

Anyway, my Eclipse had the same problem. The AC was very poor. Instead of dicking around with it, I just ripped that stuff out when I did the manual swap.

As long as I've had a belt on the compressor and refrigerant in the system the car has blown as cold as an arctic winter, and I'd swear that the heater system was designed by Lucifer himself.
