I am currently looking at a 420a motor for sale with wiseco pistons and eagle h-beam rods. the pistons run a 8.8:1 compression ratio over the stock 9.6:1. Would this have any adverse effects on anything functioning correct if everything else is stock (except for intake, headers, exhaust)? I wouldn't think so but would like to make sure before I buy. and If the motor has sat for 2 years without being turned, Could there be any potential damage there? I want to say i've heard of piston rings messing up cylinder walls after sitting still for long periods of time but I am not sure. anybody's feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Most people here run 8.6 or 8.8:1 when turbo'd so dont worry about anything of that nature except for when in your non boost conditions, your car is very slow, haha.

As for it sitting, hopefully the seller kept it lubed so no rust formed on the walls or bearings.

I have been running the same compression pistone n/a for some time roughly 20k and the only problem is that i run rich...as for sitting not so sure i am personaly picky when it comes to a motor and thing like that, i would rather do it myself to ensure quality just my .02

Sitting for two years, you run the possibility of rust build up in the chambers. Some engines will literally lock up. This can have adverse effect on the rings. Also, all the seals (especially the valve seals) have the chance of drying out. Then the question becomes, where did it sit? Outside out of the car? Etc.

Hell yea, i run 8.8:1 with out the turbo and my car is slow as hell. my MPG is down the tube. lol.
id say take the pistions out take it to the shop to see if you can get it honed out and get new rings and thats just putting it simple. like they said, where was it stored in or outside ex

Compression is right on for a boosted motor.

Spin the crank to see if it binds and remove the head to take a peak at the cylinders. Its likely that the motor will be fine, but its worth a little investigation to be sure before forking over the money.
