I recently bought a 1995 talon esi, and everything it great except for random bogging and cutting out, now the past owner got all the recalls done but the car is still acting up.

for example, if im idlling and a eaz on the gas pedal, and when i get to 2500 rpm, the car acts like theres a rev limiter; goes up and down, mind you im still just hold the gas pedal in one position, it does the same thing at 3700 rpms...

also, sometimes, the car idles at 3000 rpms, but then the car runs perfect, no cuts, no nothing, but when the idle goes back down to 800, i get bogging and stuff, ive checked the tps, iac, changed the spark plugs.....i got the check engien light checked and five codes came up, tps, iac, cts, cps, and injecter 2, or something like that....so i wanted to know if anyone else had this problem...

What mods do you have done to your car if any?

I would address all the check engine lights first. Are all the signal lines hooked up properly with no leaks? What kind of spark plugs have you installed?

well the car has full exhaust,CAI, and 55mm TB....

Did the problems start after one of the mods?

well,i just got the car, and i know that 95's had that thing on the exhaust and the owner said after the dealer removed it, the car started acting up..the ecu threw another code as well....vehicle speed sensor...

its weird because the car has like 6 codes, but still drives great at full, and partial throttle, its only starts acting weird in between partial and full, like at 50% trottle it acts up....so im stumped

i wanted the try and put another 95 computer, or even swap wire harnesses with a 96 or 97, but i want to figure out what wrong with it before i do it...lol

I would start checking simple things like what the CEL codes show. check the resistance on all the sensors that came up, and double check the section of the harness that runs next to the EGR tube that runs on the trans side of the engine. sometimes the heat from the EGR pipe melts the harness and shorts things out.

eliminate the CEL's and then worry about the ECU/harness. chances are if it's running your ECU is still good.

Well, i bought the car from a guy that thought the car had a mass air flow sensor that was taken out by the dealer, and he though that the dealership never reprogrammed the ecu....now i bought it for 400 dollars knowing that the car never had a mass air flow sensor, but the pulsed injector setup, which was taken care off, the car has had all the recalls done.

It has full exhaust, CAI, 55mm throttle body, and 171,000 miles

Now, it used to only have a weird fluctuation at 2500 rpms, bucking at 3500 rpm, and lose of power at certain throttle positions.the car began to get worse and worse. for instance when i started it, it used to start and then slowly climb up to 900 rpms, and then almost die when i was coming to a stop....I've replaced the spark plugs, cam sensor, crank sensor, IAC, TPS, coolant temp sensor, the thermostat, and the map sensor....now the car almost never starts, (ecspecially if its cold, it wont start),if it does, its the same way....while im trying to start i smell a strong gas smell, so i now its getting fuel, and i got electrocuted, by all four cylinders......so im stumped

Now in all my years of owning a 96 and up 420a, i dont get this 95 year, why is it so damn complicated, it driving me crazy, this is my 6th 420a, and i NEVER experienced this....i really need help

I hope the guy you bought it from didn't work on it himself at all. Sounds like an idiot to me. Does the car still have all of those codes after replacing those sensors? If you cant get it to start, do a keydance on it and count the flashes on the CEL

with everything you've gone through it sounds like you may be dealing with the infamous 95 ECU crapout. I've never seen symptoms exactly like these but since you've ruled pretty much everything else out it's hard to lean towards anything else.

the only other thing that concerns me is the strong fuel smell, I've never had a strong fuel smell even during extended cranking.

got it started, havent got a chance to pull the codes its throwing,it runs great when it cold, but when it warms up, it still has the fluctuation at 2500 and 3700, and trottle response, is terrible.........i wanna but it up for sale...idk..i dont have to money to fix it....im debating

the codes are 11 and 25, now remember i changed all the sensors with previosly used sensors....and i spliced the cps sensor cause it was a sensor from a 98....so i guess i have to redo that.....also i chack the timing marks for the cams and there dead on....so the only thing i could think of is the bad electrical work with the cps..

nothing has changed......i just dont have the money....
