is it kinda chirping (diff from squeekin belts)?
mine did the something similar, it was loud and annoying at idle, but goes away when the rpms start goin up. after i re torqued it to 105 ft. lbs, the sound became much quieter, and you can hardly hear it when the hood is closed.
hopefully its only that, and nothin to do with your timing belt.

I seem to hear some sort of grinding noise when it's cold. I only hear it if I'm cruising and then I hit the gas again, and it sounds kinda like a grinding noise (almost like rattling). Not squeaking, but more like if a cat was scratching some carpet. Any ideas?
