Ok I'm at work and on my lunch i went to go grab some food. before i could leave work the car acted like the battery was dead. So I got a jump. No go. I find out i have a short because my test light illuminates when i touch the body of the car and the negative terminal of the battery. I have unplugged all of my audio equipment. Still nothing. No lights, no horn, no nothing. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I will be stuck at work til I get this figured out. Thanks in advance.

Another thought:
Is it possible for deep cycle batteries to reverse polarity if they're going bad??? I cannot find this damn short!

My fiancee is picking me up so I'll have to leave the eclipse here....3 Cities away from my house, in a bad part of town. ugh. maybe i should go buy some lug locks before i head home :(

sorry man, electrical shorts are a beeyotch to track down.

Check the "Engine" fuse in the fuse box under the hood. I would check the wiring around the EGR plumbing, see if the heat burned through any wires.

I had a stripped 02 sensor wire that kept shorting and blowing that fuse.

Double check your battery connections also, poor connections would cause it also. Take them off and clean them if you can.

wow i think i really overthought this one. I decided to take the battery out to go get it tested and after loosening the terminals, I got power and it started. I took it to advanced to have them check my battery anyway. Tested Good. So i tightened the terminals back down and lost power again. I'm like WTF. So I CLEANED THE FREAKING TERMINALS and its fine now. They didn't even look dirty or corroded but i wiped em down anyway. Now i get to reinstall my audio crap :rolleyes


BTW: I'm still trying to understand why a test light will illuminate when clamped to the negative terminal on the battery and touching bare metal with the tester :shrug
