I got a CEL code PO133-upstream 02 sensor. My Ca. smog certification isn't due for a year from now.

Will it hurt to ignore this until then? Like what's it causing my engine to do?

Are these sensors plug in? It's raining like hell here and I don't want to lay under the car to chase the wires. Thanks.

You will get better gas mileage.

I replaced one that wasnt throwing a code because it was siezed in the DP. I noticed a small increase in gs mileage as well.

Get one for a 1997 Eclipse if you go to Advance, they are about $30 cheaper (SAME Bosch sensor) than other years.

They are plug and play if you get the one that is. Id say 90% are the right ones. This one is easy, there is a small metal bend clip under the AC compressor, bend that, pull wires out, plug in, rebend clips, and you done!

Basically your car won't know how its burning fuel and air, but thats about it. You won't get great gas mileage, suffer performance loss, and you might have to replace some spark plugs.

They just bolt in and a universal three plug sensor can be had for 60 bones. Deff. replace ASAP.

Thanks Rocky. I didn't know it can affect the plugs too but I can see that now. Car might run too rich, etc. I'll R&R that today.

Well my R&R turned into rain and rain. I did however go buy the o2 sensor. Got it for $49+tax. The brand is Walker and comes with a one year warranty like the Bosch and Denso. The plug connector is a round 4 pin type. Hope that's the right one. ??? anyone know?

They are something like that. Pop the hood and take a peek. Like Tim said, the sensor sticks out of the downpipe towards the passenger side. Follow the leads from the sensor over towards the AC compressor. The connector is sort of cylindrical and, if I'm not mistaken, grey in color.

Thanks Driggs. My connector is cylindrical and grey in color too. I'm going to swap it out first thing in the morning, rain or shine, lol. I'll post back when I'm done.

No prob, bud. It'll deff help ya out in the long run. Plus no sense wasting the money on gas and other maintenance stuff with an easy fix. I thought they were three wire o2's, but that might just be the 4g63 cars. Now ofcourse with a universal o2 sensor you'll have to hardwire the plug, but that ain't no thang, just match the colors up.

Well, I just replaced my upstream o2 sensor that my scangauge claimed to be bad.

Tried to clear the p0133 code-with motor running, not running, cold and warmed up both ways.

I then disconnected my neg. battery cable to reset the ECU.

Guess I'll just see what happens from here.........

OK now. The code never came back.

I think I jumped the gun and didn't give the ECU enough time to reset itself.

This is all new to me. Thanks everyone for your help.
