anyone seen or thought about the coil on plug set ups on ebay there is one for the srt-4 that has a plate the water jetted for a set of coils to be mounted to a 2.4l valve cover and there is another one that the guys just sells you the coils and wiring which would work but think Id like the attach my coils to something

nice idea, but really pointless imo

you're only adding more things that can go wrong. our ignition system already uses a wasted spark setup and the stock coil is just fine even under boost with a small adjustment to the wiring.

I'm sure with MSnS you could find a way to eke out a few extra ponies, but in IMO it's not going to be worth the cost vs. performance

well yea I know must of that coil on plug is cleaner looking I think and on my 95 avenger I went throw 2 coils in 2 years kind of werried they failed like that but just thought it be neat and no more wires to pull apart and replace

Wires are WAY cheaper than new coils. usually people use VW/Audi coils because they're easier to mount (no screws needed) but they're notorious for only lasting about 6 months, and at $80 a piece I wouldn't do it.

People have been using COP with MS for a while, it's still kind of experimental depending on application, but for the most part it's a personal preference thing, you won't gain much over our stock system. Even being waster spark, it puts out more energy than it needs at any point and pressure. Going turbo may limit it at high boost, and i mean like 30psi, but for the most part it doesn't matter.

well its already done lol and I did use VW coils but they dont cost me anything so its all good and never heard of coils going out every 6 months in a vw my buddy has a 1.8t passat never had to change one and my set came from a 1.8t passat just happen to be what I had on hand at the time thought about some fords but all I had was for a v8 and they have a bend in the boot

1.8 passat huh? your replacement part number is an 06B-915-115-R. The R is the supercession indicator and VW part numbers start superceding at A and continue up through the alphabet, A B C and so on. they were recalled once and replaced with L now they're at R.

when I worked at VW we kept 30+ on the shelf whenever possible and even then we saw them go on intergalactic backorder at least 3 times in the two years I worked for VW.

they go bad. trust me.

you guys may have had issues but they get fixed recalls like you said but like I said weve had a set on the self for 2years I guess Im trying to say Im not trying to be an azz and if I do have issues Ill pull them and get a set of fords or mopar ones and just rewire them
