123413, Buzzing sound Posted by AJCaron, Jan-06-09 08:36 AM
99 Eclipse GS
I've been trying to find out where this sound is coming from. When I start the car cold it is ok for about 30 seconds, then it starts to make a loud buzzing sound that sounds like it is coming from the timing belt area. I replaced the tensioner and idler pulleys on the timing belt and thought that would do it. Still getting the noise. I don't hear it as much when the car warms up, and I put my ear up to the timing cover and car hear it. Thanks fellas!

Is kinda like chattering? Does it go away if you push the clutch in?
I know my car does that, its the throw out bearing, on the transmission.

Nah it's not chattering. It gets faster when I give it gas. It's like a loud zinging noise like a bee. I have no mods. My clutch and tranny are in excellent condition. It's been doing it for a while. Can't figure out what it is. Alternator is fairly new. It's around the accessory/timing area. Don't think it's the idler pulley.

Try spraying a small amount of WD40 around the AC compressor.
It could be coming from there.
