I turned my car on this morning, put it in 1st and noticed that the clutch didn't catch right away. Did the same thing in 2nd. Took a bit before I could feel it totally catch. With the car in neutral, it feels as if my fuel filter is clogged, because the sound, and feel of the car is not smooth.

When flooring the gas pedal in any gear, the car is hesitant. It does not drive smoothly. It feels rough. The clutch is fairly new (less than 10k miles on it), fuel filter is about 2 years old, and I have a rebuilt tranny.

Also after I got to work, put it in neutral, I could hear the throwout bearing moving around (louder than usual). Just a guess with the fuel filter, it just seems like something is clogged because it's not running smoothly at all. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it's been raining for a week. Last time I drove the car was 3 days ago and it was fine. Please help.

I do not have any CEL's. It has been raining close to nonstop for 7 days straight, could this all have to do with that?

Are you sure all the cylinders are firing? After washing my engine once a lot of water leaked down past the spark plug wires and caused one of the cylinders not to fire. The car drove just like you are describing until I sucked the water out.

After turning the car on again, I got a "Service Engine Soon" light. I do believe there is a misfire in one of the cylinders. I made sure the wires are tight, there is no water in the wires or plugs.

I removed the spark plugs. One of them had a little oil in it and the tip was browner than the others. I changed the plugs, and the car responded the same. I swapped my MSD coil pack back to the stock one, and it seemed to smoothen out. However, the "Service Engine Soon" light is still on and the exhaust is blowing smoke. Also, I noticed the car has been burning oil more frequently than usual.

Would the "Service Engine Soon" light clear itself when the problem is fixed? Please help.

Change your valvecover and spark plug gaskets. If it is leaking oil in the spark plug well it will leak around them causing a misfire/smoke.

I disconnected my battery, reconnected, and the light went off. Seems to be running better now. Will replace the gaskets.
