I just got an eclipse online from an insurace thing. Anyways its a 98 spyder, silver. I looked at the vin and it has a G...I read that G means SOHC Non Turbo 2.4 L Engine. Is this correct? The engine is completely different form my 95 RS, the intake and batter, etc. Is on the opposite side. It looks kinda like a turbo because I see 2 airboxes from the looks. Anyway to kno for sure until I get it next week? Thanks.

Oh and is the SOHC 2.4 a quick car? faster than my RS? Would my header from the RS Bolt up?

the spyders have the 4g64 engine. It's 2.4 mitsu motor, You'd be one lucky mug if you got the turbo version on top of it being free. Congrats.

Didnt get it free, got it for cheap tho, lol. Anyways, did any of the 2.4 Spyder Automatics come with turbo?

Where can I get an intake for it, will the RS intake I have work? Thanks

oh, and yea, like ^^^ said, you can easily transfer 4g63 parts to your motor.

If you got the 2.4 then its a non-turbo 4g64 as stated above. And it will be a slug a/t. My girlfriend has one. If its turbo spyder then its got the 4g63 which is 2.0.

Also i'm guessing when you say "insurance thing" that it was a total loss from an insurance company which means whetever is wrong with it will cost more then 80% of the cars value and it also will have a Slavage title. Whats wrong with it?

n/t turbo mistu motor unlike our chrysler motor. You can easily bolt 4g63 turbo parts onto the head and get it turbo'd. Should work very nicely for you if you know what your doing.

Nothing from the 420a motor will work on the Spyder

will the Idle air control swap from a 4g63 into a 4g64

Huh? What parts. The 4g64 is SOHC and the 4g63 is DOHC. You need to swap the whole head.

If you can, you SHOULD swap the whole head!

Pretty sure you can get a 4G63 manifold on the 2.4 head, Tony. I have a buddy here in Phoenix who was running a 4G63T header/turbo on his 2.4L 3G automatic. It knocked all the time in the summer, but it was still pretty cool. He whipped it all up himself.

A local guy on Carolina DSM has a 3g spyder that he has done a complete EVO head swap on. That thing is nasty.
