122127, wierd starting and slowing down problem... Posted by Murfsmaster, May-24-06 04:57 PM
Alright, i have a wierd problem with my car right now and i'll try to explain it as best as possible. Sometimes my car will start up just fine and other times it will start for like half a second and then die. When I try to restart it, it won't start for like 5 seconds and then will start and barely run until I hit the gas pedal, but then it will idle just fine. Now sometimes when i'm slowing down in neutral, it will come back down to idle just fine but other times it will hang at 1600 rpm until I come to a complete stop and then it will drop down to a normal idle. I have no clue what the problem is and I honostly don't know where to start. This is beginning to get frustrating as i have my turbo kit sitting in my bedroom but don't want to install it until I get this fixed. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, TIA.

sounds like a fuel problem to me when your start your car....you might want to check your injectors or your fuel pump/lines
about the high idle before you stop, my car does the same and from what I ve heard it's very commmon on 2gnts
good luck

The car starting sounds like a fuel related problem. Most likely it will be something like a pump, regulator, or filter. Most likely if it was an injector it would always be happening and not just kinda random and it would most likely only effect one cylinder. As for the high idle it sounds almost a vacume problem but thats just a guess. :shrug

Yeah, my car also does the high idle until stopped, I think nothing of it.
