12207, WTF Why is my ride leaning out?
Posted by daved, Jan-15-02 05:45 PM
Alright I think I am still having a problem with the car leaning out. First off I have an Autometer Air/Fuel Ratio gauge, I know I know it's not the best for tuning so don't anybody go tell me that I already know! Under WOT, and this only happens at the beginning of 2nd gear, the gauge reads a lean condition untill about 4,000 rpm's. As soon as it gets past those rpm's the gauge reads rich and you feel the car hook up. It's boging out in the beginning of 2nd gear but only in this gear. Is this normal? If it is normal how can I correct this I know I am losing some time waiting for the engine to get enough fuel. I just replaced my plugs and plug wires and I don't have a high power machine. I just have the basic mods CAI, exhaust, bored throttle body, etc. nothing major and I am still non-turbo.

BTW I do have a CEL on, don't know what it is and I don't have the money to let Satan charge $80 from me just to put it on a computer for about 5 mins. I have a laptop and a hacked version of the OBD2 software, I just need to know what I need to hook it up to the car somebody walk me through what I need, can I just get the stuff from Radio Shack? Tell me what I need.

If your car is running lean at all, you'll get a cel (p0171). The thing with this code is once it pops up the ecu will not retest to see if it went away. My buddy christian got a cel for that same code, and he's just got an intake (and nos, but not using it at the time of the code). So you can reset the ecu and see if it comes back, cause it just might be some dirty gas, dirty fuel filter, dirty injectors, ect.
