I've read over a couple of post pertaining to the sams subject and still need help answering my question. I need help removing my crankshaft sprocket. Those tools in the manuals are impossible to find,and I figure I will have to rig something up in order to get it off. I was wondering if someone had the same problem and what can I do to get it off? My engine isn't torn apart,but out of the engine bay, so if there is something anyone can think of that could help me out, please reply!!!!!!

If you are referring to the timing belt crank sprocket, you use a normal harmonic balancer remover tool, available at any auto parts store. YOu have to find the corrrect bolt sizes that thread into the crank sprocket, and just get 3 of those, preferably 3-4" long.

and grab some extras with smoe washers those things liek to snap off

The bolt should be M6 x 1.00.

You sure about that? For some reason, I want to say 1.25. I could be wrong, though. I'm not sure of my answer for sure. I know I posted it long time ago, right after having done this.

OP, there is no other way to get it off aside from cutting it off. You go to Autozone and rent the harmonic damper puller, then go to Ace Hardware and pick up a couple bolts. If you're not sure, start out by picking up a couple of shorter bolts in M6x1.00 and M6x1.25. Go home and see which one is the correct pitch. Line up your rented puller (being careful to not have it pressing against the sprocket surface - you'll be working against yourself) and get an idea of just how long the three bolts will need to be. Like was said above, it will be something like 4-5", but Ace will list them in MM, so eyeball it or measure it somehow. Get to Ace and pick up three or four of those bolts and washers too.

Then you just thread your new metric bolts through the washers and puller into the sprocket. Crank on the puller and it will come off easier than you could have ever imagined.

Sure, making two or three trips to Ace Hardware sounds like a PITA, but I know that it works...

I actually managed to pull mine off with really short bolts. The long ones are really hard to find, so I had to opt for the ones I could get. Just remember to get extras. They bend and whatnot.

Yeah it's M6 x 1.00mm . I managed to pull mine off with some pretty short bolts too (what was availible locally in stock), it just bent them a little. I always spray a lube/penatrant like PB Blaster on anything that's press fitted on, helps a lot.
