well my first battery died so i bought another one and that died too so i charged it and guess what, it died again! did my research but just wanna make sure its the alternator before i buy one. what do u guys think?

Good chance it is at this point. Either that or you have someting drawing excessive power while the car is off.

On a fully charged battery, Autozone can test the charging system for free. Have fun changing out the alternator. It's a bitch the first time.

Take a look. Just remember to (though it may seem like more work than it's worth) take everything off the car that is in the way and your job will go 2X as fast as it would if you tried to shortcut around things. If it doesn't have a gasket attached or require a special tool to remove, you might as well get it out of the way so you have more room to do your job.

he aint kidding, took me 7 hours, and ended up with a bloody and bruised back afterwards, not fun at all

Ahh doing an alternator job isnt bad at all..Jack front end up, remove pass side tire. Remove black shroud by crank pulley. Remove power steering/ac belt, remove alternator belt. Remove alternator top adjuster bolt, and lower mount through-bolt. Unplug wire connector from alternator, and remove the charge wire(dont forget to disconnect the neg battery terminal first!!!!) Take off the alternator, and let it rest on the pass side axle. Now remove the black, 3 bolt alternator mount bracket, and with this off the block, it gives you just enough room to remove the alternator out of the car. Reverse for install. I've done it this way plenty of times now, can get it done pretty quick.

Yeah, I agree with XTreme. It's not all that bad. I've done it at least 4 to 5 times, maybe more. The difference I think between whether it's an easy job or hard job is whether or not you have curise control. No cruise control and it'll be a breeze .... :thumbsup

let me correct my statment, its not hard at all to get the alternator off the car, the hard part for me was getting the damn thing out of the car so that i may install the new one. you will turn it and push it and bend it till you find that exact spot where it needs to be to drop out from under the car. the manual says to remove it from the top side but they are on crack! i fought with that was for several hours before realising its not gonna happen. do like he said remove everything and it should be a snap. i can do mine now in less than an hour probably about 30 min. as with anything it takes time, experiance, and patience
