Posted by kinkopy, Aug-25-06 08:51 AM
I have re installed my hydraulic tensioner on 3 timing belt changes and ive got a second one off another car that has less mileage that im going to use this time. The question is has anyone actually had a tensioner go out on them before ?

Yes. You are dancing with the devil.

You should of put all your questions into one topic. YOu have like 5 new threads in a row.

yes, many tensioners have gone bad.
Seems like the tensioner is one of the MAIN reasons the timing belt actually fails.

replace it.

Agreed. However, the last tensioner I installed (currently in use) came off Dino's old, blowed-up, 2L with 10k on it. You just have to ask yourself: Do you feel lucky, punk?

Well? Do ya?

And I disagree with the all-in-one-thread approach. The threads are all titled appropriately enough that they will easily show up in future searches. While it's not the prettiest way of doing things, I can't say I find fault in doing so. I just wouldn't make a habit of posting like this.

Yeah, I guess the better suggestion would be to search instead of posting links to ebay items then asking if that part will or won't work. *shrug*

I've used one tensioner on 3 rebuilds and no problems yet. I pulled a tensioner off a car that had 50k miles on it to use for this rebuild. them shits are expensive even on ebay there like $100
