I am going to be running an electric oil pressure gauge with my turbo setup and I have basically one question...

I have ultra-lite 52mm gauge throughout my car and from what I have researched, a good oil pressure gauge for us is one that goes from 0-100psi...

My question is... WHY is there such a huge difference in price between the full sweep ultra-lite oil pressure and the 1/4 sweep one. The cheapest I have found the full sweep with everything included is about $180 and the cheapest I have found the 1/4 sweep is about $50. Why is there such a big difference in the price???

Well one is electric and the other is manual. One will acctually have hot oil running through a line up to the back of the guage and the other will use an electric sender to send the info to the guage.

No Autometer makes 2 ultra-lite ELECTRIC oil pressure gauge, they both go from 0-100psi but one has a full sweep and the other is a 1/4 and the full sweep costs over 3 times more. Just trying to figure out why.

Because one is full sweep and the other isn't? What doesn't make sense about that?

full sweep has more increments whithin the gauge to see what pressure you have. 1/4 sweep has 4 measurements with a dash in between each number.

I have the 1/4 laying on my work bench and a full sweep in my car.

It has to do with the precision of the stepper motor inside the gauge. You need a more sensitive sending unit and the motor has to be able to remain precise over a greater range of motion.

It's not the same gage reading farter, but a completely different gauge.

Personally, I'm using the cheapest Autometer electric oil press. gauge. Works fine for me. I know where my pressure is at idle and under load. If it's outside that range, I am concerned. That said, I would save the money by getting a cheaper oil press. gauge and ensure I had the best O2/EGT/fuel press. instruments I could afford.

Mechanical FTW

I would go with a mechanical one since they are cheaper but I don't exactly like the idea of sending hot oil to the inside of my car haha.

I prefer mechanical. As long as you install it correctly the line will be fine.
