I'm in the process of rebuilding a motor pulled from a 97 Breeze. Does anyone know if this is going to bite me in the ass for not using a 420a from an eclipse? I mean, the block from the breeze is a 420a.

Please someone help before my engine builder starts crackin at it.

No your not. It seems to be well worth it, at least to me it does. I plan on it but I have to get another dd before I start. Search it on here and read and read and read. Its not that hard once you make a motor mount and do the injector and magnet thing.

If you decide not to use that 2.4, would you consider selling it to me? I'll take it.

Your head will fit. The trans will bolt up.. but you need additional parts and to make it work.

I used:

SRT4 oilpan (modified)
SRT4 oilpump
SRT4 waterpump
SRT4 timing belt
SRT4 timing belt tensioner
SRT4 Side MM / PS pump bracket
Fabricated 1 motor mount
Remote oil filter kit

2.0L rods won't fit, but 2.4L rods can be had cheap and rebushing them for a 2.0L wristpin is a cinch for any engine machine shop.

I order all my factory parts from www.chryslerpartsdirect.com . The most expensive single item was the oil pan @ $70.

Sorry guys. It turns out I do have the 2.0 version. My machinast almost took my head off when I told him that I might have pulled the wrong motor. We did some research, and its right one. Thanks for the help guys. 2.0 build will continue.

The manual trans cars were available with a 2.0l engine in 1997. The only problem is that it is a SOHC engine. The intake manifold will be on the front of the engine like a Neon. At a minimum, you will have to re-use your 2GNT head.
