Alright I have been trying to get answers from all around, but I am new to this stuff so work with me.

I am now looking into doing some bolt-on improvements to my 97 Eclipse Spyder GS with the 2.4L engine. However, I am having problems finding a cold air intake system for it. I guess it turns out that the air sensor can not be by-passed (at least not to my knowledge). I even tried the simple MOD of removing the bottom honey comb in the mass air housing. My "Check Engine" light came and the car idled poorly. Put the honey comb back and everything works fine. I can't unplug the air sensor harness otherwise the "Check Engine" light comes on.

Does anyone know how to successfully get a cold air intake system on this engine (links, info, email, etc.. is appreciated)? Or does anyone know of a DIY cold air intake project?

Any help is more than appreciated. I am dying to start getting the extra power, but I don't know how to get past this one.

Hi,

I am in the same boat as you. I have a 99 Spyder GS, and it looks like no one makes a CAI kit for the NT Spyder.

If you find a CAI kit, I would love to get one as well.

You might wanna try looking at mach V motorsports and/or RRE. They might be able to help you out more. Good Luck.

Any reason why you couldn't just use piping the same diameter as the MAF and fit it with a coupler? :shrug If I can plumb an SRT4 front mount into a Galant VR4 using parts I got at Home Depot in the PVC plumbing aisle, I'm sure something can be figured out.

Maybe your friend should be encouraged to be content with replacing the filter with a K&N or something simple like that.

Some Advance/Auto Zones sell MAF adapters in the DIY intake section.

Also, Scepter (I think, they sell it at Autozone) has a kit, kinda expensive off the bat, you basically fit it all to gether, then label, and send back. They credit you for pieces not used, then TIG weld your intake and send it back ;)
