What is the length of the belt that runs through just the power steering and crankshaft pulley? No AC. For some reason, parts stores only list belts that include AC.

If nobody knows and I measure this length with string, do I move the power steering pulley toward the back of the car or towards the front of the car before measuring?

if you have an AFX underdrive pulley, its a 5 rib 38 inch belt

No, I have a stock crankshaft pulley.

If i remember right, the AFX is a 30% underdrive. If this is the case, and the 38" works on that pulley...then in theory a 26.6" belt should fit the same. Try 28 or something in the parking lot at the parts store and so if not, you can swap it.

Or like you said, use a string. Push the PS pulley all the way down on its bracket. Thats the SMALLEST belt youll need, so add like a 1/2"-1" and then see how that fits.

you dont need any part numbers, just remember its 5 ribs and give them a length. If you know what to look for on the part numbers, youll know what belt it is anyway.

Are you sure? Wouldn't it be longer than 38" since the stock crankshaft pulley is wider? A few people on here said 40" is the stock size, but wasn't sure.

how hard is the install on a new belt? i gotta put 1 on my project car, do i gotta pull the fenders or anything?

yea sorry im retarded. It would be longer. Use a string it'll be faster. According to my weak math, if its a 30% UDP and my belt is 38", then your belt should be 49.4". In theory, but one way to find out. Its really simple, my belt used to fly off sometimes. Use a 14mm socket for the bolts, and a small pry bar to move the PS pump to add tension and tighten the top one to hold it there.

It's a 40" belt for those wondering. A 40.5" should be an easier install, but I used a 40". You gotta remove the plastic piece behind the wheel, then loosen those 3 bolts on the power steering.

You dont have to remove anything, and yes ^^^ is the correct size. Just loosen the bolts on the PS and loop the belt on. Tension and away you go. Less than 10 minutes to have it all done right.

So you can us the P/S pump to add tension? I thought u had to get some aftermarket belt tensioner that was ribbed instead of smooth?

You sure can. There is a nut on the inside of the bracket, which is 14mm I believe, then just turn the tensioner bolt in to tighten the belt. Re-Tighten the nut on the inside of the bracket and you are good to go.

Cool, I was wanting to take off my a/c, but I thought u needed some different Tensioner pulley.
