well i have been looking at youre site quite a bit and finly decided to join in!

i have a 95 gs eclips and a curently trying to install a new clutch but have run in to a road block! the clutch i am trying to install is a stg 4 clutch masters, the kit came with the pressure plate clutch disk and the throwout baring and also the alighnment tool! well when i got the tranny down, the stock clutch is a one pice clutch, and the new one that i have is a two pice, my question is does the clutch plate sit against the fly wheel or am i missing some pices, its a 95 gs and i am in need of some help on this one!

Glad you searched before you posted :thumbsup . Our cars have what they call a modular clutch in them. As you have discovered (when you dropped your tranny) the modular clutch has the clutch, pressure plate and disc all together. You need to get a modular clutch set-up. What you have is a "non modular" set-up (I'm guessing for a 2g gst. Common misunderstanding).

If you're looking for a stage 4 set-up there are various places to get them. SBC is a one of the favorites of the guys. You might want to search out the site to try to find the one you might want.

ok now my friend is telling me that if i get what they call a "flex plate" it will work with my stock fly wheel "no dough for upgraded fly wheel" what are your opinions with this?

What you unbolted your clutch from, is your flex plate. It basically comes with the starter ring gear and with 4 spots to bolt your clutch assemlby to. If you wanted to make a non modular set-up, you would have to buy a Neon non modular flywheel with the Neon bolts and then you would need the Neon clutch and pressure plate. I run the non mod set-up because I want flexibility in my clutch choices for racing. IMO, I would just stick with the modular if I was you. Also, you need to check with the supplier of the clutch you have to find out what the application is.

well i descoverd that i need the clutchmasters fly wheel for my clutch to even work it seems that the clutchmasters fly wheel is custom fit for my apps so thats all i need to get, when i orderd it i didnt know that the fly wheel was the mating part to the rest of my clutch asembly! "go fig"

well i will be caling around tomorrow looking for one

That's how modular clutches work :)

Welcome to 2gnt, new guy.

You can you use a stock flywheel too. It just needs to be drilled and tapped. That's exactly what I'm running right now, A CM stage 4 with a stock flywheel. I didn't drill and tap the flywheel though, the person I bought it from did. I bought everything together so I don't really know what’s involved with getting everything centered. It works well, but when I had my engine assembled I had the entire rotating assembly balanced with the clutch and flywheel.

Could you please take a pic of a clutch bolted to a flexplate, that would go down in the book of classic 2GNT lore!
