120161, Won't start after engine rebuild. More INfo inside

Problems -

1. No Cam or crank Signal.
2. Low voltage to injector harness.
3. Car won't start, obviously

Car was running fine before stock turboed engine blew. Dropped the coin rebuilt with forged rods, pistons etc.

Just got the engine in last night and these are the only things holding us back.

I have a snap on scanner. I used that to run injector pulse tests with a light. Very weak light.

It also tells me theres no cam/crnak signal. Sensors worked before :shrug. We may just replace them but I'm sure thats not the problem.

We checked the asd relay also and it seems to work no problem.

Any ideas?

Check your timing. If the timing is off enough you will not get spark at all.

That and make sure the cam dowels arent broke! Exact same problem I had, no cam/crank signal and very weak injector pulse when trying to start. The cam dowel was wiggeling around. Im sure you might remember those posts from last spring from me :)

Nope. dowels are fine

What about the harness to the sensors are you getting voltage at the sensor, are the harnesses damaged? You only changed the internals right not the block, so you shouldn't have to worry about any connector differences. Is this on your 95 that you sold a while back? Any mods on this one like ms or are you running the SFMU inj route?
IIRC the harness is common for the inj cam and crank, (the inj harness splits off but you know what I mean)you may have a harness issue or disconnect...

It's a 98RS. When we put a ground from the cam or crank wire off the ecu, there is a signal and the injector pulse light turns on and you can hear all the relays and stuff but still no spark. Tried new cam and crank sensors, still no difference. even when we ground the harness and it recognizes all the sensors, there is still no spark :shrug This is some serious BS!!!. It worked fine before the rebuild and the first thing taken out was the battery so there was never a chance to short the damn ecu out. The timing is right on, we took the gears off and looked to make sure everything is lined up when it is supposed to be.

Loose ECU harness.

I wish. Everything is tight like a virgin.

And Yes, there is 5 Volts at cam/crank sensors and the coil.

EDIT: We also tapped the ASD relay thinking something way maybe sticking (from some other post) and it didn't do anything.

I'm guessing the ecu now but it's still reading all the other sensors, opening windows running everything else....just no spark.

make sure the coil isn't plugged into the VSS and that the VSS isn't plugged into the coil ;-)

Oh you fucker. Thanks dino.

We must have blown the injector drivers or some shit cause now we have spark but no injector pulse. Good thing a used ecu is one the way.

If you wouldn't have said that dino, we would have plugged in the new ecu and fucked it over also.

Thanks. A. LOT!.

Ok cool, now we have spark but still no injector pulse or cam or crank signal. New sensors didnt help either. I am hoping its the ecu, we will have one tomorrow. :) Thamks Alot!!

Alright, the car runs, still no cam or crank signal on the snap on scanner. The check engibe light is on but there is no codes present on the scaner or by doing the keydance, and the oil light is on yet my oil press guage reads perfect. The damn ecu didnt show up yet to try but mine must be screwed up and is just going haywire. The cars runs rough but obviously it would with those sensors not reading.
