120057, ECU Relocation Posted by Slammed420A, Feb-12-07 06:08 AM
I am thinking of relocating my ECU to inside the car. I want to clean up the engine bay, and have things easily accesible in the car. has it been doen before? Should i look out for anything when it comes to extending the wires?

DON'T DO IT. i am moving mine to under the drivers seat, i'm about 75% done with it. lets just say there are more wires than you think. i wouldn't suggest you try it, but if you do,pull the engine, dash and everything under it. it'll make it a lot easier.

I'd say its not worth the headache and Octopus nightmare of re-routing wiring on our ECU. There are some other options for freeing up room in the engine bay. If you have replaced your stock air intake, you can remove the small airbox, inlet and all the other crap that sits underneath the ECU. You could also relocate your battery to the trunk. That would give you some extra room.

My battery is already in the trunk, i just think it would look a lot cleaner, and be easier to have the ecu and megasquirt side by side uder the passenger seat. I wasn't sure but by looking at it, it appears that the only wires I would have to extend would be the ones connected to the 2 plugs on my ECU. It will just be tedious. Plus my engine is out so that makes it a little nicer.

How are you going to cool it?

Does it really stay that cool in the hot engine bay? I would think it would be cooler inside the car under the seat.
