119816, odometer works(sometimes) speedo doesnt work?
Posted by bloodyangel1, Mar-18-07 01:33 PM
the odometer works sometimes. i have driven probably 40 miles so far, and have put on like 5-10 miles on the odometer, but the speedo hasnt moved at all. it was in my understanding that if the speedo is bad, the odometer wont work either, so whats the deal? any ideas?

you have an automatic transmission? Im guessing your speed input sensor is bad.

I've currently got a similar problem with mine. Turns out the retainer clip holding the sensor harness in place broke off. Now the connection isn't right and sometimes neither will work at all, sometimes the speedo will shoot back and forth between 40-130mph at random, and the Odo will move along with it. Could just be that your speedo is shooting up to 100mph+ for a second here or there and you're not seeing it. The odo really moves at 100+mph.

Check your connector. This is one of the reasons why I parked the Talon. Running as rich as it is all the time, she would stall out every time I put the clutch in to coast once warmed up. Fuck that.
