Guys, I was changing out my tie rod ends last night and noticed that I have about 1/8" of play in the power steering rack on both sides. Is this normal or is this a sign that the rack needs to be serviced soon? I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there or if the play will go away when you start the car.

I would have cranked it to see, but it's going under the knife and already is in multiple pieces.

mine is about the same, I've heard that putting in a heavier fluid can help this, not sure yet

Well that makes me feel somewhat better. I'm going to see what else I can find. I really need to find my service manual and see what it has to say.
