I tried a quick search of forums, not sure what im looking for.

I can remember the first day i bought my 95 eclipseNT (1998), that sounded cheezy. anyway... When I tapped the gas super lightly, it would rev up to say 1500-2000rpm and come right back down to a normal idle. Seemed... kinda-ok... Its been bothering me for years.

Since then, I blew the engine, and swapped another junker and been noticing that it still does it. Like it's impossible to ease it up to 1500. Sometimes when I shift out of gear, and only when im comming to a stop, it rev's high and comes back down. Its pretty rare, but does happen.

Sticky gas pedal? Normal? IAC or TB?

Irritating cuz when I stop at stop sign at school(College), its appears to ppl that im reving-up my engine for some stupid reason. Like I got something under the hood or something. lol.


Does this sound familiar to anyone?

That's normal. I have had 2 2GNT's and they both do that and I know many other's that do the same.

+1 done that since the day I got it and that was 9 years ago

when i swap my ecu with a friends ecu, it doesn't do that anymore... i'm saving for an ecu that i will buy in the far future.. but mine rev's always to 3.5k and comes back down when i release the pedal.

3.5 seems alot higher than i can remember. Actually thats seems Crazy!!! If mine did that i would freak out.

How often does it do that? cuz mine is really seldom, random(when shifting out). I cant ever feather it up from idle to 2k, it just jumps.


Maybe its some type of performance feature to help us jump of the line, or quick shift...lol

Check for leaks in the TB Intake Mani connection point. When I first got my car 2004, the revs would drop REALLY slow, and when I pressed the predal in or put it in neutral the revs would go up too. I wrapped my hand around the TB and nearly lost a piece of skin, the vac leak pinched me so hard... I knew that wasnt normal. So I was getting extra air in there. I guess it helps "performance" at the cost of fuel efficience since your rev dont drop between shifts and such.

Any who, I changed the TB gasket, cleaned and adjusted the IAT, new plugs, wires and some seafoam, and it worked like a charm. But now that I got the AFX UDP on there, it got a little touchy again. Sounds like I got a SUPPAH CHARJAr on there! :7 Its a low whine thats all.

Hope the advice helps.

(check old, crusty or oily vac lines for leaks aswell)

Err all the time :p . but my problem is my Ecu maybe because I burned mine with a short , and put 1 atx ecu in I have to save up for a new one.. it's still so far away from my grasp. i'm looking to buy one from someone that doesn't paypal
