Well my car has been using oil for quite sometime and i've decided to switch to a different oil for now. I bought some 20w-50 oil for a change. Any concerns that I should consider before I change the oil? I've never used any oil this thick so I'm just wanting a second opinion.

I'm not really going for power with this car. It's just a daily driver that pretty much rarely sees past 4500rpms.

It might help, I had a lawnmower and I actually used a diesel oil because the piston rings didn't set correctly and it drank oil until I just rebuilt the engine

A rebuild well simple rebuild would fix your problems, if you dont feel like investing the time and cash you could try using a oil that is designed to resist the burning, I think Castrol just came out with a semi-synthetic that does just that

EDIT, you might want to just try using a oil that is designed for higher millage, some even come in strait weights, try using a 40 maybe? All are designed to resist burn off, I have no experiences with these, I only have used AMS oil.
