Okay on the invoice it saids it is for "1995-1999 Neon Manual Tran MPX 60mm in red. "

will this fit my eclipse 420a with auto tranny?

http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/eclipse_60mm_mpxtb.shtml

is this the one you ordered?

If that is the same one then you should be fine. To my knowledge the auto just had a different pitch to the fulcrum that the cable attaches to making the throttle less responsive at low throttle areas.

I thought the neon TB was different than ours, at least the stocker is.

See Terry, that's the thing, I always thought the same thing too, but MP sells their TBs differently. When I ordered mine way back in the day before they offered the adjustable spring tension model the invoice said neon TB and I called them up and questioned it. I don't remember the guys name but they said they were all the same so I mounted it and ran it. Eventually sent it back for the upgraded model with the 2-position throttle cable stop but they still invoiced it as a neon TB. I dunno if they don't consider them different, or if they are cataloged different in the manuals but all the TB's I've ever gotten from them (3 total) have performed perfectly and have had the same amount of cable travel- IE- no pedal = 100% closed and WOT pedal = 100% open TB plate... It was always a mystery to me, but one that I just accepted as working.

That is odd. I was looking at a few pictures of Neon motors and the cables come from the top of the TB. Now keep in mind the Neon TB faces upwards.

Our Cable come from behind or Below if you were to mount on a Neon.

I wonder if they make the actual TB the same but are able to change the cable fulcrum right before they box it up.

Here is an idea Deej. Look at your and see if there are two different holes in the fulcrum. I am talkign about the holes that the lead "bead" of the cable fits into. I wonder if they have both holes in the front and rear to accept either cable style.

Thats a good idea. I will charge up the digi-cam tonight and snap some pics of my most recent ( 1 year old) MP throttle body tomorrow. Luckily, or should I say sadly it is still of the car right now heh, and has been for the past couple months (rebuild taking waaaaaaay too long, don't get me started). But an interesting topic that I was always curious about. Even if you go to their website and compare pictures they show the same TB for neons and eclipse/talons...

The one I got from howell had two different mounting points for the throttle cable, I assume one is for the Neon and one is for the 2gnt.

Yeah see luke, I have snatched a few from junkyards thinking they would be good cores if anyone wanted one and they were clearly different where the cable attaches. Lek i said the neone attaches from one side and our attaches from the other.

Now as mentioned above, they have both mountng locations, that makes perfect sense.

Now i want one.

Yeah, I was trippin and didn't pay attention before I posted. It's almost as if the shaft is rotated 180* so the cable can attach on the oposite end of it to pull from the top/front.

From the pic above, it looks like it can go either way.

I was asked if I had an ATX when I ordered mine and the neon ATX throttle linkage is COMPLETELY different, I had to make my own just to use it. Someone should let them know the 2G's and neons are not the same car!
