11880, Which exhaust header? Posted by Scandal, Jan-10-02 09:29 PM
Hi folks. I am writing from Germany, so please don´t mind if my English isn´t that good...
Which of the headers mentioned below ist the best for a 99 Eclipse 2nd Gen. NonTurbo?
Bosal Brospeed Airmass GReddy GS/RS Pacesetter
I saw them at the NOPI-site and probably want to buy one of them.
What power-gain would I probably get by that? Do I need a high-flow-cat in addition to the header (which one, what gain)?
I´d be glad if you could give me sone information about that.
Thanks in advance, Michael

my car is daily-driven. i do not race. if i was gonna get one i would get the brospeed.. just because it is 4-2-1 . hopefully i will not lose precious low-end torque. lots of people here like the greddy. some say if you do not really care bout looks the pacesetter is just as good.
just my 2 cents.

I believe all those headers are 4-2-1. You just paying for the quality of the header on the expensive ones.

the greddy is a 4-1 i think..
my kamikase is a 4-1 also..
many people said get 421 blah blah.. the low end..
but then manyy upon many said get the 4-1 the loss in low end(since we have none anyway) is fine.. and the top end is sooo worth it in teh 4-1.. but then i do it
then everyones like ull never see ur top end anyhow.. since i have a auto.. and because we cant rev high enough
i rather have a turbo manifold anyhow

If your car is an actual euro-spec Eclipse NT, you don't have the same engine we do.. you have a high compression 4G63, made by Mitsubishi, not the Chrysler-made 420A we have.
If that's the case, almost none of the aftermarket parts available for us would fit your car. However. many of the parts for the GST/GSX available here would.

Is that the same engine in the Spyder GS, the 2.4l?

No.
The euro spec NT came with a 2L 4g63 that ran 10.5:1 compression. Same motor as a GST, higher compression, no turbo.

Hi.
Does that mean, if I want to buy a header, I should look for one that would suit a GST/GSX?
Well, I bought the Chilton Repair Manual and could see, that the NT-motor shown there in comparison to mine is "the wrong way round". But the turbo looks similar...that would be the explanation...
I will check, what my exact motor-specification is.
Thanks an bye, Michael
