Has anyone run the A/C power steering belt without tensioner the tensioner pulley? If so, what is the length of the belt? I have a stock crankshaft pulley.

I've had my tensioner out and have been running just a power steering belt for the winter. After putting the tensioner pulley back in place, it does not spin freely unless it is barely tightened. Does that mean the tensioner is defected?

I'm having a tough time isolating the problem of my A/C power steering belt coming off. It runs fine with just power steering. I'm aware of an updated power steering bracket, which I haven't tried yet.

Also, could my A/C have gone bad from not having a belt around it for a while? The belt keeps slipping off the A/C every time I start the car and the belt is properly tightened. Last time I had a belt around it, it would always come off the power steering pulley, not the A/C.

So I don't know if the issue is the power steering bracket, the A/C, and/or the tensioner, which is why I want to run a belt without the tensioner.

Are the pulleys in line? Take a straight edge and hold it against the pulleys and see if there is a gap. My power steering pulley is off an inch so the belt wont stay on and i don't know how to adjust it so that they are in line.

AN INCH? there's only like 1/2in of mounting area, did you bend the bracket?

matt, replace the bearing, really easy job, takes 15min. do a search on tensioner pulley bearing.

side question, slimy, are you running 2Gb headlights with a 2Ga bumper? I was just looking at your sig and it looks like there's a funny gap between the inner portion of the headlights and the bumper cover

Yea, i'm using the 2GB headlights. The passenger one is broken now so i'm getting ebay projectors. As for the pulley, the engine that's in the car now is not original and was put in before i bought the car. I don't know if they didn't put the pulleys on right or what but they are off so my PS belt won't stay on worth crap. When i put a straight edge on the sides and lined em up, the pulley for the PS was off to the left about an inch. Might be less, i'll have to check.

You know how to adjust it or what i can do to fix it?

I had the same problem. I'm running without the tensioner just fine. I ended up replacing crank pulley, ps pump,and ps pump bracket. I cant get the belt to fly off no matter how hard i try. I'm running a 490K5 belt.

Are you running the stock crankshaft pulley?

no, I'm asking theperfectshift, does the 49in belt fit the stock crankshaft pulley?

wow dont know how i missed this topic for so long, yes i have the stock crank pulley. the belts been on for over a month now, without the slightest problem.

thanks for the help! the 49inch belt works perfect! f the tensioner!

I'm gonna have to give the 49in belt a try, the tensioner suddenly decided to fall apart on me and shred the belt
