Hey guys I need a bit of help. My cylinders tappered off at the bottom so I need to get a new block. I currently have a 1995 RS-T and I'm wondering if a 1997 Eagle Talon block will work. I was at the junkyard today and got stopped by a storm but tomorrow I hope to yank it out.

My head is cracked too so I need a new one of those. What year of Eclipse/Talon can I use for that? Will a Dodge Avenger work? I know they have the 420a engine as well.

Any head will work. They use the same casting for every year. If you check the FS forums, there are probably 7 heads for sale right now.

you can drop the block right in.
any head will work, just make sure to have the head and blocked decked for flatness if the arent from the same engine.
the 95 blocks are actually better if you want to make more power since the skirt is tabed for 360* groved main bearings which give a more reliable oil layer for the crank.

i use a 95 eclipse block and a 98 eclipse head

Sweet well I pulled a 420a out of a 1997 Talon. Can I throw all of the internals from my 95 block into the 97 one?

I was told at the junkyard today the head from a Dodge Avenger or Stratus (think it was a Stratus) will fit our blocks. Is this true? Thanks for the help guys.

Internals will swap straight across. Just be sure to reuse your 95 sensors to avoid any harness compatibility issues. The head is the same as well.

make sure the stratus head isnt the 2.4L version.
if your going to swap internals double check all the clearences for "out of round", as you may have had some interesting wear patterns in the old block that might torch your new block.

oh and if you still want to use 360* groved main bearings on the 97 block you can have relief cuts made in the skirt for the bearing tabs.

I'm running a 97 longblock in a 95. everything's the same, if you have a pre 95 build car there might be a vacuum tube you don't have on yours, like driggs said, just swap your sensors and emissions stuff and all should work fine
