Im buying the Howell rebuild kit , 370cc injectors (from Stan), Stage 2 or 3 ACT clutch, brake pads, and a new timing belt by March depending on how much the install price is. I was hoping I would get lucky again and find someone that can install my internals for cheaper then Extreme, Altered or any other local shop in the MD area. I was lucky enough that Stan could install my turbo for cheap, but he doesn't do internals. Anyone in here live in the MD area kinda near DC and can install internals for decent price? please let me know. Thanks

Don't take it to a performance shop for your rebuild.. you'll get raped. Find a shop that specializes in engine rebuilds. They're more common than you think, and easy to find if you look.

ACT doesn't make clutches that fit our cars ;-)

You sure ACT doesn't make clutchs for our cars cause my friend dsmnt96 is getting one also. What clutch do u recommend then? and do u know any shops in the MD area that specialize in rebuilds? Thanks

I'm pretty sure ACT clutches only fit the 4g63 powered models. I know ClutchMasters makes great clutches that fit our cars in five different stages (0 being OEM replacement, 4 being brutal, like a 2600)

Yeah, our clutch setup is a bit different. The acutal flywheel is riveted or bonded to the back of the clutch and mates up to a flex plate that's attached to the crank. Clutchmasters makes awesome clutches. I'm running a Clutchmaster Stage 4 setup currently.

Damn Stage 4..... Well Im hoping I dont have to get that crazy cause my car is a daily driver and on long trips a Stage 4 would get annoying. You think a Stage 2 will be fine for 10 psi daily driven and 12-15 at track on race gas, or do I need a Stage 3? Thanks

I use a CM Stage 3 and it's a great clutch and perfect for the street but Stage 4 also is good on the street.

Hey AIM me at Kiku888 we can talk. I live about 1 hour north of you (border of MD and DE) and although I can swap internals, if you want your stuff balanced, I have an engine hoist and we can take the engine out of your car, take it to a local machine shop (they do work for ERT racing team and Foward motions - they are great) and they can do it for you for really cheap.

Also, are you having your block bored over? or just a piston/rings/rods swap??

I can do the work for you for a fee smaller than extreme will charge you i'm sure, or if you are mechanically-inclined, we can take the engine out ourselves and take it to the local machine shop to get the work done. Most likely will take less than 1 week for them to swap pistons and balance the short block.

Its my own garage at my townhome. I have emails/screennames of people who you can talk that I have done work for (either engine work or turbo installs) so you can get an idea of what i can do.

Anyone can install rods and pistons/rings on our engines. I would suggest though taking the block out and taking it to a machine shop to get the piston walls cleaned up and get the short block balanced once the new rods/pistons are in. It'll give you a very smooth running engine.

i can easily back kiku up... he swapped my motor once and installed my turbo kit. he did a great job both times and eleanor enjoys the young boosted motor now :)

I gotta say that your car eleanor was very very bitchy when it noticed she was going to blow hehe
