Well I'm having problems with horrible hesitation all the time and horrible misfires at cold startup. I have narrowed it down to my ecu. Also, my logger only reads 28% throttle at full throttle even after a new tps. It's time for me to search for a good ecu.

Since the 95 2gnt ecu's are known to take a crap I was just wondering how other people's ecu's have died.

I don't know what exactly went wrong with my ecu, but I can tell you where I was when it crapped out. I was waiting for my food in the drive-thru lane at Burger King, and my car just shut off. I tried and tried some more to start it, but to no avail. I then had to push it into a parking spot and ask the manager of the store if I could leave it there overnight. I think my car was trying to tell me that if I was going to continue to eat that crap, I was better off walking!

Mine would sometimes die on deceleration, sometimes on idle, and every so often, it would buck horribly. The frequency of all this increased linearly since it began about a year ago. I found a good replacement ECU several months ago and all symptoms ceased immediately.

Yeah mine has been getting worse and now that I'm turbo, the extra power just makes it that much more noticeable.

I've blocked most of it from memory, but the front O2 sensor trace may have burned up. All of a sudden, the car just started running pig rich and fouled out two cylinders. For those keeping count, that only left two cylinders running...badly. It belched black snow and fog much to the dismay of my neighbors. A/F gauge showed full rich right before getting flooded and dropping dead lean. That was confusing until I saw that the datalogger showed dead lean from start to finish. The first new ECU I bought actually didn't fix it because I had yet to realize that my plugs were invisibly fouled (just wet). The second ECU worked great with new plugs. I learned something that week.

I have have a "new" reman-ed 95 (before 7/95) MTX ECU from the dealer. I payed $220 for it to attempt to fix a problem that turned out not to be the ECU. They wouldn't let me return it. It has about 100 miles on it, been sitting on the self for a year, but still looks fresh out of the box.

Mine is a Manu 12/94 ECU and I've never had a problem I could narrow down to the ECU exclusively. I've had weird tuning problems, weird idle issues, T.I.M. described logic that didn't match what I saw my ECU doing, et cetera, et cetera.

I'm a bad case, though, because I've worked around my ECU since the day I sat down and read the T.I.M. and decided it was a stupid idea to cater to anything so rigid on its inputs for so lamentable an output. The day I bypassed its expectations and took control of my motor with my own control was the first day the I felt that I could make something of the 420A platform without the car fighting back the entire way.

Well I just ordered a new ecu and it should be coming tomorrow so we'll see what happens.

well, not the ecu for me, just dirty injectors again (maybe I should get new ones with how often they get nasty) ran some 44K through and no more hesitation when cold. my ecu is a 8/94 production too, would that have anything to do with the longevity? 160K+ miles
