Ive searched the forums and I apologize if this has been solved before.
heres my problem. Lately ive been having some issues with my car(97 Eclipse RS). It seems to be temperature related because it only happens during the day, and it will drive just fine at night when its cooler. Ill be driving along and the car acts and drives normally, but then all of a sudden the car will die and it takes me about 15 minutes just to get it started again. If its hot outside I only get about 15 mins of driving before it dies out on me again. I was pulling an engine code that said i had an open circuit in the ignition coil, so I replaced it and still the same thing happens. I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the ignition on, so I dont think thats the issue. Maybe PCM?? Does anyone have any Insight or has had similar problems? Its just weird that it only happens when its hot outside so im thinking it might have something to do with the resistance value of a wire from being exposed or something. Thanks for your help.

You might want to check the harness where it runs close to the EGR pipe, sometimes things get damaged by the heat, possibly even burned though. the warming of the engine bay on a hot day could be causing a damaged wire to expand and seperate.
not a guarantee, but a possibility
Edit: no offense, but your screenname doesn't exactly say "smartest-guy-on-the-block"
at least you had good spelling and punctuation :thumbsup we can't say that about a bunch of people lately :7

Well I'm probably not the smartest guy on my block, but oh well, what are you going to do?
Heat in my engine bay is probably a huge problem due to my headers. There is no heat shield and I'm kind of weary to heat wrap them(I've heard that makes the metal really brittle and subject to cracking or breaking.) I thought it was vapor lock at first so I added a water removal treatment to the gas. Since the check engine light ahas come on and off I'm going to have it re-diagnosed to see if its pulling the same code as before. Hopefully its not an exposed wire that I have to find because I REALLY don't feel like tracing all of them. Thanks for your input and I will try looking at the wires a little closer tomorrow. I just want my car to be fixed I hate not knowing if my car is going to die out on me, like in the middle of an intersection or something(happened today, I'm going to stop driving it till its fixed Haha)

bad wires tend to be right on the side of the head where the EGR pipe works its way around the head to the intake mani. next to the battery.
as far as the headers, wrap em, if they're stainless or decent quality steel our engines don't produce high enough exhaust gas temps to worry about the metal fatiguing. especially if the headers have a flex section. to quote another member here, "think of your engine bay as a neighborhood, exhaust wrap just makes your headers a better neighbor"
