Started off with the intake, I never liked the filter in the engine bay so I made use of my old AEM CAI. Thats the bottom where the filter used to go connected to the turbo inlet.





That's where the intake used to go to the throttle body. Cut it right past the aem sticker and it fit perfect, sucking up all the cool air it wants from the front bumper vent :)





Then I decided to finally fix my pillar pod. I didn't want to drill a screw through it so I cut the clip peice off the old pillar cover, snapped it in the frame, put some J-B Weld on it, put the pillar pod in place and clamped it down.



Next I put mesh over the foglight covers, I'm gonna redo them and cut out all the black plastic and just leave a frame for it. If that makes sense? Notice the filter in the vent? :thumbsup

Got rid of the altezzas a few month's ago when I refinished my tinted lights. They've held up great so far.



When I bought the car the passenger fender was trashed so I traded it out with my other 2g since it needs alot of work anyway.



I feel like I accomplished somthing for a change lol.

Man be careful with that AEM cold air intake. I always debated buying one but never did because of all the horror stories people post about sucking up water and ruining thier motors. I also read somewhere that the temperature difference is not too big between having the filter in the engine bay and down lower to the ground.


BTW...I like your exhaust tip. Fits perfectly in the bumper opening like if it came that way stock. Really Nice!!! :thumbsup

BUY an AEM BYPASS VALVE, its under 50 bucks at Summitracing.com

I have it on my INJEN CAI sytem, just got done detailing my enginebay I'll post pics.
Luv the mess foglight, that gives me and Idea when I add my new Foggys.
The Bypassvalve adds another WOW when you pop your in front busy store like a gas station.
I highly recomend you getting the Bypas valve on it before its too late.

I bet you're starting suck up water from the road, with that pipe in the air vent.

When I go Turbo someday :scratch I will still use this Bypass valve.

For those who say it doesn't work You're wrong it does. I've installed it on my CAI before a big snow storm and flood after the snow melted. The snow level was high even to reach the Filter.
ONe bad thing it gets dirty alot,but I rotate it when I change my oil

Man, your post gave me a headache. You spoke about the bypass in the beginning, then switched to detailing, then back to bypass, then foglights, then back to the bypass thing again. :nuts Sorry to bust your bypass bubble but i've read of people still sucking up water with a bypass on. :P

LMAO!! If the people where you live are impressed by a piece of foam placed between two pipes then I need to move there and open up a car shop.

After reading many stories about people sucking up water into their intakes, I ditched my cold air intake. Wasn't worth the tiny gain along-side of the big chance of destroying your motor.

OP, engine bay looks pretty clean, I just need to get mine to that level sometime ha.

I lovah Ze headlights. There are some new ones on ebay that have a "brighter" LED ring ( I dont really care) What I really wanna be able to use are my red LED turn signal bulbs.

I've ran a cai for years with no bypass valve and no problems. Guess it depends on how aware you are when driving in rainy weather. I don't drive through mud holes or standing water on the road and always keep some room between other cars while following on the interstate to avoid the spray they kick up. If it's flooded or questionable, I don't risk it and turn around. The only downside I see is keeping the filter clean, which is done everytime I wash the car btw. Gotta love K&N!

Not digging the mesh but that's you.

Keep your intake up high enough and you wont suck water into it. Mine sits right next to the driver side splash sheild (one that hangs vertically since the lower sheild didn't come with the car). In fact, it's right up against that shield and sit's about an inch or so higher than that. I've driven through the rain and puddles many times and my car still runs. Filter is still clean and i've had it on my car for several months now.

P.S. is that a carbon fiber gas lid?

There is a big difference between the filter being in the engine bay and in the fender. BIG difference.

As for the filter sucking up water, its not so much of a threat with a turbo. Many turbo guys run the filter below and in rain it doesnt become an issue because the turbo will actually mist the water as it passes the compressor and is heated. You also have a lot of piping for the moisture to pass through before it gets to the motor. there is also the intercooler to consider.

The more I look at it, I think I'm gonna take the mesh back off the foglight bezels, it's a little too much. Yeah, that's a carbon fiber gas lid.

The mesh on your Foglights look cool, I gues abit ricer maybe..

Engine bay looks great. But whats with the color scheme? It looks like you couldn't decide on Black/Red/CF.

Nicefully moded machine IMO.

As for the CAI, look sick like the rest of the car, and if your gonna run in the wetness just take off that rubber nipple on the up tube while you do. Then put it back on later, thats what I used to do. :thumbsup

those all go great together, why are you knocking him?

I'm not "knocking" him; Multi-colored/textured paint schemes are just hard on my eyes. If he likes it, awesome, as that's all that matters.
